mp3: Everyone Everywhere "Music Work Paper Work"

mp3: Everyone Everywhere "Music Work Paper Work"

Yeah, yeah, my turn on the Everyone Everywhere Blog Tour. 10 blogs, 10 tracks.

I agreed to do the tour before I even heard Everyone Everywhere's new release--perhaps risky on my part or blind faith, but no matter--because mark this down:
this album will be on my end of the year list.

Think Braid, The Promise Ring, Piebald with no gimmicks.

Then try a non sequitur like this from "Music Work Paper Work":
"Look in the mirror/try to raise just one eyebrow/it's pretty weird/makes your head feel like it isn't yours..."
What the...? Yeah, and there's more where that came from.

This is track #6, so find the other tracks from the other blogs here. And check out The Album Project for tomorrow's track. These will be up until May 4, and then PunkNews will be streaming the album.

Music Blog-o-cide of 2k10

Been on Twitter all day about the great "Music Blog-o-cide of 2k10."

Big music review/ mp3 site Pop Tarts Suck Toasted was unceremoniously ousted off Blogger yesterday for reasons not completely clear yet but is now back up and running.

I Rock Cleveland posted on a Blogger forum that all of their music was licensed.

I was thinking of doing an MP3 post today, Blogger be damned! (Okay, I already downloaded an XML backup file....)

Small Black: "Despicable Dogs" (good song)

Glimr: "Sunburned at Midnight"

Blue Brain: "Ten by Ten"

Linfinity: "MSG"

Southerly: "Trials"

A Weather: "Giant Stairs"

Borrowed Eyes: "Slaves"

Cuckoo Chaos: "Slowly Counting Down to Nothing"

Gobotron: "Never Turn Around"

Friday Five: 5 Albums From The Tour I Want To Hear

A selfish reason for doing the Albums of the Decade Blog Tour (which wraps today with Sound as Language) is to discover new music for myself. As I said in my list, there is no way to hear everything.

So the following five albums are ones I'm interested in hearing that other people on the tour listed. Most of these I had heard the name of the band, but their music never crossed my path. They were like myths made real.

I'll let you investigate to find who listed each album as one of their faves. And again, a big thanks to all of these blogs for agreeing to do this.
Thanks to Sound as Language for the logo!

5. Acceptance - Phantoms

4. Oxbow - An Evil Heat

3. The Lawrence Arms -
The Greatest Story Ever Told

2. Menomena -
I Am the Fun Blame Monster

1. Johnny Foreigner -
Grace And The Bigger Picture

Lit Randomness: more Blood Meridian, Appetite for Self-Destruction, more Dave Eggers and waves of book blogs

Link

There will be more Blood Meridian: At AV Club.

There's the report of a Blood Meridian soundtrack, now here's AV Club picking it up for a discussion amongst their writers. The road to The Road is a long, but worthy one.

Interv. w/ Steve Knopper, Appetite for Self-Destruction: At Pitchfork.

All the crazy conspiracies and connections that has led to music industry's crisis.

Blogs that discuss books in a serious and engaging way continue to divide; mimicking the industry and product they hope to promote: At Conversational Reading.
Dude, what wave is Deckfight? We talk about books and music. Maybe we're a blogazine. Maybe we're a maga-blog. If they're first wave and they're second wave, we officially declare to have skipped the third wave and are now on the fourth wave. Whatever that is.

Interview w/ Dave Eggers on his new non-fiction book, Zeitoun about a Muslim family in Hurricane Katrina: At Rumpus. (h/t HTML Giant).
Didn't know this book existed, but because of my love of Eggers and my personal history of NOLA and Katrina, I am.........(at a loss for words).
